Lawrence Woodworks is owned and run by Peter Lawrence in Hamilton, New York. Peter earned his associate’s degree in Carpentry and Building Trades from SUNY Delhi and began his career building custom houses in the Catskill Mountains. During this time, he was drawn to thinking about the furniture needed to turn those houses into homes.
In 2015, Peter started Lawrence Woodworks to help make the everyday beautiful through bespoke, high-quality pieces offering functionality alongside design. He knows the joy of sitting in a hand-carved chair and gathering loved ones for an occasion around a skillfully designed handmade table, and it’s his goal to share that joy with every customer. In that vein, we are committed to building beautiful pieces for all areas and purposes - from homes and offices to restaurants, hotels, and more.

We also specialize in a variety of storage solutions including nightstands, dressers, and cabinets. All of our pieces are customizable in size, color, and wood type. Colgate Inn - Hamilton, New York
In celebration of the Colgate Inn’s 100th anniversary, we were commissioned to replicate the Windsor-style wooden chairs original to the Inn’s dining room.
We hand built eighty chairs, thirteen tables, and a custom dining banquette.
General Manager Kendra Young said she looked to the Inn’s history for inspiration in planning upgrades to the building’s beloved tavern. The tables and chair seats were all made from local Cherry, while the legs and spindles were made from local White Ash.
